It’s no secret that local residents know that people and businesses get much slower in the Coachella Valley come summertime. For me, however it’s busier the ever….

Take my newest venture … Pretty Committee Inc. Friday evening, July 23, was a packed house of 21 vendors and 150-plus guests at Viva Cantina Bar and Grill in Old Town, La Quinta. Some of the local merchants there commented on the activity being more people in the restaurant that evening, then they’d seen all week.

What is Pretty Committee Inc? It’s an umbrella marketing, media and advertising “One Stop Shop” membership-based company for entrepreneurs, beauty professionals, spa owners, specialty boutiques and “fashionistas” alike to support one another’s businesses, and set opportunities for showcasing them. Some of the opportunities planned are membership and networking mixers and shopping events with a theme.

Friday night’s event was centered on the backdrop of Shakespeare’s play, “Midsummer Night’s Dream.” There was a forest theme, complete with green foliage, flowers, butterflies and fairies with the vendors asked to come in ethereal dress.

The restaurant was completely transformed, and the $5 admittance, included specialty made appetizers and one free cocktail. The first 50 guests were also treated to a goody bag filled with discounts and free samples from some of the vendors.

More than $2,000 in raffle prizes were awarded, and one lucky gal walked away $300 Prada sunglasses, $125 facial and an $85 massage from the tickets she purchased.

It was the second successful event to take place in La Quinta. The first was at a private residence with the theme of the “Sex and the City” movie, that transformed the residence into a New York City and Abu Dubai paradise.

I’m very excited to be involved with something new like this in the Coachella Valley!! There are many more events and shopping excursions to come. The mission statement of the Pretty Committee Inc is to be a member in a company that leaves a person feeling the ability to…”WALK INTO A ROOM & OWN IT”!!!
