The dark, ominous exterior of the Fireside Lounge in Palm Springs, California, might look a little creepy at first.

The Salton Sea lies about 40 miles south and east of Palm Springs, Calif. It is about 40-miles long and can provide a day or more of photography for a visitor. It was not my intended venue this trip.

The Bob Hope Classic had something new this year. They put up an area called the Bob Hope Square. Normally the fans walk through the tent with Hope Memorabilia to get to the field at PGA West. One year, they put up a tent just with Bob Hope items, such as a small museum. I would like to see that return next year to the venue. Hope Square is a

Palmer Private Course, PGA West

By Palm Springs Guides Golf Guide, Phil Moore

The final round of the 2010 Bob Hope Classic was played under ideal conditions, beautiful clear blue skies, comfortable short-sleeve temperatures, and not even a breath of a wind. Because the rain washed out the second round of the event on Thursday, the final round was pushed back to Monday, Jan. 26. The amateur team play competition concluded on Sunday, so today it was

Opening Day at the Bob Hope Classic

PhllipMooreGolfLogo-245x250By Palm Springs Guides Golf Guide Phillip Moore

Wednesday was the opening day at the Bob Hope Classic and, like every other year, I was out there bright and early. I arrived at the beautiful, Arnold Palmer-designed, SilverRock golf course at 7:30 a.m. It was cold and breezy, but I didn’t mind at all; I was just thankful that it had finally stopped raining!

As I walked toward the course, I met two spectators in football jerseys, who were hoping to get autographs from Bo Jackson and St

By “The Palm Springs Local” Denise Ortuno Neil

Most out-of-the-way local dive-bars are usually; well, out of the way. That, however, is not the case with one of the oldest bars in the Coachella Valley. No, the “Barn” stands in all its red barn façade glory, smack dab in the middle of Palm Desert on Highway 111, ironically just a street away from swanky El Paseo (t...
