Saturday, January 23, 2010 PGA WEST Vendor tents were set up with food, drinks and music. Other vendors included a Longest Drive contest where golfers could try to hit the ball as far as they could in the hitting area to win a prize and golf balls. The First Tee sponsors free golf for kids in the area. They held a putting contest with prizes. The putting green was erected in the shape of the Bob Hope Face logo by Back Nine Greens and was a hit with people as they walked by. Music was provided all day. Sofas provided by Back Nine Greens were a good place to sit and watch. Tables were placed all over the area for people to sit and eat or drink. Many fans just took a rest from walking the course. Others just sat and listened to the music.Barbecue, pizza and sandwiches were just some of the foods available in the Square. Other food and drink vendors were in front of the Club House at PGA West, but there was no seating. This new and novel idea was well received by everyone attending. I think it will be bigger and even better next year.
